According to analysts, in 2026 the price of bread could increase by about 25%.

This was stated by Deputy Chairman of the All-Ukrainian Agrarian Council Denys Marchuk on the air of “Den.LIVE” .

According to the official, the share of flour in the cost of finished bread is less than 25%, while the main influence on prices is energy, logistics, and labor costs.

“All other components are energy carriers, logistics, and human labor payments. And accordingly, when we are at war, logistics, labor payments, and energy carriers are much more expensive than raw materials,” said Marchuk.

He added that the cost of production is also affected by currency fluctuations, since a significant part of the equipment and components for the baking industry is purchased abroad.

“Bakeries purchase all their production-related elements, that is, these are imported products that require equipment, and therefore contracts are concluded in foreign currency. Therefore, any fluctuations in dollars and euros make the production process itself more expensive,” Marchuk noted.

He also reported that over the past six months, bread prices have increased by 1.5-2% each month.

“By 2026, we will see an average increase in the price of bread by 25%. For half a year this year, the price of bread has been increasing by 1.5-2% within a month,” said Denys Marchuk.

Expert Boris Shestopalov also predicts a further increase in the price of bread. According to him, even a high harvest will not be able to fully contain the increase in prices due to additional business expenses in wartime.

“It’s not only about the energy security of enterprises, but also about protecting the infrastructure itself. Business is forced to invest additional funds in the purchase of electronic warfare equipment and cooperate with the Defense Forces,” explained Boris Shestopalov.

He added that enterprises also bear the costs of ensuring the physical protection of energy infrastructure and purchasing the necessary equipment.

Also follow “Pryamim” on Facebook , X , Telegram , and Instagram.

In Ukraine, experts predict further increases in prices for bakery products even in the event of a good grain harvest.
