On the night of May 24, Russian forces launched a massive combined arms attack on Ukraine, using missiles and kamikaze drones. Kyiv suffered the most destruction, with damage and fires reported throughout the capital.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, Timur Tkachenko<\/span><\/span> , Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko<\/span><\/span> and the State Emergency Service of Ukraine<\/span><\/span> reported on the consequences of the strike.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

In the Darnytskyi<\/strong> district, debris from rockets and drones damaged a dormitory, a service station, non-residential buildings, and cars. Rescuers evacuated residents and extinguished the fires.<\/p>\n

A drone struck a private home in the Obolonskyi<\/strong> district. Fires broke out in a 16-story building, in open spaces, and in a construction hypermarket.<\/p>\n

In the Shevchenkivskyi<\/strong> district, rocket debris damaged residential buildings, an office building, a market, two schools, and a gas pipeline. The building housing the museum of the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service of the Kyiv region was also damaged.<\/p>\n

In the Dniprovskyi<\/strong> district, debris fell on the roof of a residential building, and a drone strike caused a fire in a private home. A warehouse and a garage cooperative were also damaged.<\/p>\n

In the Svyatoshinsky<\/strong> district, rocket debris fell on a private home, in Goloseevsky \u2013 on the roof of a multi-story building, and in Podolsky \u2013 on a non-residential area.<\/p>\n

In the Desnyansky<\/strong> district, drone debris damaged a supermarket and a shopping center. In Solomenskoye, a drone struck the upper floors of a 24-story building, causing a fire and structural damage. In the Pechersky district, a drone strike set a 20-story residential building on fire. <\/p>\n

Ukrposhta<\/span><\/span> CEO Igor Smilyansky<\/span><\/span> reported damage to the company’s head office on Maidan Nezalezhnosti.<\/p>\n

In addition, according to the chairman of the Association of Chernobyl Operators, Yaroslav Yemelyanenko<\/span><\/span> , the National Chernobyl Museum was destroyed as a result of the attack.<\/p>\n

According to the latest reports, 21 people were injured in the capital, including a 15-year-old boy. Thirteen people were hospitalized, three of whom are in serious condition. Preliminary reports also indicate one death in the Shevchenkivskyi district.<\/p>\n

The Russian attack also affected the Kyiv region. Mykola Kalashnik,<\/span><\/span> head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration, reported damage to residential buildings, businesses, warehouses, and utility buildings in the Fastiv, Bucha, Obukhiv, Brovarsky, Vyshgorod, Boryspil, and Belotserkovsky districts. <\/p>\n

The Cherkasy region also suffered strikes. In the regional capital, a drone struck a high-rise building, causing a fire on several floors. According to the Special Air Investigation Department, 11 people were injured, including two children.<\/p>\n

The day before, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy<\/span><\/span> stated that Ukrainian intelligence had received information from American and European partners about Russia preparing a large-scale combined strike, possibly involving the use of the Oreshnik missile. The Air Force also issued a warning of a similar threat overnight.<\/p>\n
