This leads to the deviation of Russian missiles from the set course.<\/p>\n\t\t<aside class=\"shortcode-also\" data-title=\"Read also\" >\n\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/prm.ua\/en\/poroshenko-handed-over-trucks-atvs-and-electronic-warfare-systems-to-units-of-the-armed-forces-of-ukraine\/\">Poroshenko handed over trucks, ATVs, and electronic warfare systems to units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine<\/a>\n\t<\/aside>\n\n<p>\u201cLima\u201d was developed by Cascade Systems, a Ukrainian defense startup registered in the U.S. The system creates powerful interference fields that disrupt satellite navigation.<\/p>\n<p>If satellite signals are blocked, Russian long-range weapons can continue flying thanks to inertial navigation systems. However, their accuracy decreases by about two kilometers for every 100 kilometers traveled, significantly reducing the likelihood of hitting the target.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;When Lima is turned on, it further increases the missile deflection. In addition to simply suppressing navigation, we use coordinate substitution and shift them by several kilometers. We can make the missiles fall into fields instead of hitting targets,&#8221; emphasized the system developer with the call sign Alchemist.<\/p>\n<p>The advantage of Lima is its scale and relatively low cost. Unlike other tactical EW assets, the system is capable of covering large areas and protecting critical infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p>According to Cascade Systems, the production of one complex costs up to 3 million hryvnias (about 58 thousand euros), depending on the modification.<\/p>\n<p>The developers note that to protect a large city, 30 to 100 such units are needed. The estimated cost is about 5 million euros, which is comparable to the price of one Patriot PAC-3 missile.<\/p>\n<p>Cascade Systems has already delivered over 400 Lima systems. The Ukrainian military began using the system in July 2024, and in October 2025, its use was expanded to include the protection of civilian infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p>Lima generates satellite navigation signals used by Russian missiles and drones, giving them false coordinates. The system is also capable of creating a so-called \u201cdead zone\u201d where an enemy drone loses its guidance signal.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;When we create a wide enough zone protected by Lima stations, the missile won&#8217;t even reach the city. We&#8217;ll send it into an open field,&#8221; the Alchemist explained.<\/p>\n<p>The Russian Federation mainly uses guided aerial bombs in frontline regions, where satellite navigation signals can be weak. However, engineers have already adapted the system to counter KABs.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Even if the guided bomb deviates from the target by about 20 meters, this will already mean that the target will not be hit,&#8221; the developer emphasized.<\/p>\n<p>At the same time, he acknowledged that even silenced Russian missiles and drones can fall and cause damage. However, he said, debris from targets destroyed in the air is usually less dangerous than whole redirected weapons.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, <a href=\"https:\/\/prm.ua\/estoniia-ta-ukraina-domovylysia-pro-spilne-vyrobnytstvo-droniv-ta-system-reb\/\">&#8220;Pryamiy&#8221; reported<\/a> that in Kyiv, Estonian Defense Minister Hanno Pevkur and Ukrainian Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov signed an agreement of intent on cooperation in the defense industry.
