Ukraine already has permission to rebury Colonel of the UNR Army, Commander of the Sich Riflemen, and Founder and First Chairman of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists Yevhen Konovalets, who is currently buried at the Croswijk Cemetery in Rotterdam, Netherlands.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was reported by Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Iryna Vereshchuk<\/span><\/span> .<\/p>\n

“The next one will be Yevhen Konovalets, he is buried in Rotterdam. We already have permission, we are preparing and will carry out the reburial ceremony in the near future,” Vereshchuk emphasized after the reburial ceremony of the head of the OUN, Andriy Melnyk, and his wife, Sofia Fedak-Melnyk. The ceremony took place at the National War Memorial Cemetery.<\/p>\n

She also noted that we are talking not only about figures of the 20th century, but also about representatives of various historical periods, in particular the princely and Cossack eras.<\/p>\n

When asked whether prominent figures reburied at the National Monument could be transferred to the National Pantheon in the future, she replied that a law on the Pantheon is currently being prepared, which will determine the framework of future decisions: who can be buried there and according to what criteria.<\/p>\n

Vereshchuk noted that the government will make decisions regarding each specific figure separately.<\/p>\n

The head of the Ukrainian Institute of National Remembrance , Oleksandr Alferov,<\/span><\/span> added that work is ongoing to perpetuate the memory of hundreds of Ukrainian figures. At the same time, the issue of reburial of Stepan Bandera is not currently being commented on by experts.<\/p>\n

On May 25, the remains of the leader of the OUN, Colonel of the UNR Army Andriy Melnyk, and his wife Sofia Melnyk (Fedak) were reburied at the National Military Memorial Cemetery in the Kyiv region. The ceremony was attended by President Volodymyr Zelensky, head of the OPU Kyrylo Budanov, Minister of Foreign Affairs Andriy Sybiga, Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko, third President Viktor Yushchenko, and other Ukrainian politicians and military figures. The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine also adopted a decision<\/a> to determine the location of the National Military Memorial Cemetery in the Hatnya rural territorial community of the Fastiv district of the Kyiv region.<\/p>\n
