US and Iranian negotiators have agreed on a draft 60-day memorandum to extend the ceasefire and begin talks on Iran’s nuclear program.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Axios writes<\/a> about this, citing American officials.<\/p>\n

According to the publication, as of Tuesday, the parties had already agreed on most of the terms of the document. However, the final decision has yet to be made by the leaders of both countries.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

US officials say Iran has already indicated its willingness to sign the memorandum, but US President Donald Trump has asked for a few more days to consider it.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

“The president told the mediators that he needed a few days to think about it,” one official said.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

According to Axios, the memorandum provides for free passage through the Strait of Hormuz without any restrictions, delays, or harassment of ships. Iran is also required to remove all mines from the strait within 30 days.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

In response, the US should lift the naval blockade of Iran after commercial shipping in the region is fully restored.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

In addition, the document contains a commitment by Iran not to develop nuclear weapons. One of the first issues in the upcoming negotiations should be the fate of Iran’s highly enriched uranium and its further disposal.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

In return, the US is ready to discuss easing sanctions and returning frozen Iranian assets.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The memorandum also mentions the creation of a mechanism for the supply of goods and humanitarian aid to Iran.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

It was previously reported that the US and Iran may soon agree on a basic agreement<\/a> that should stop tensions in the region and pave the way for full-fledged negotiations on the nuclear program.<\/p>\n

Recall, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced the completion of the military operation against Iran called Epic Fury, which had been ongoing since February.<\/a><\/p>\n
