American congressmen said the United States should respond positively to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s request for additional missiles to bolster Ukrainian air defenses.<\/strong><\/p>\n

After meeting with Zelensky in Kyiv, Connecticut Senator Richard Blumenthal stated that the United States has repeatedly fulfilled Ukraine’s requests for additional weapons.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

“I hope and expect that America will respond positively to this request,” he said.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Congressman Jim Himes was in Kyiv with him. According to Blumenthal, upon their return to Washington, they will lobby for additional air defense equipment for Ukraine and for tougher sanctions against Russia.<\/p>\n

Reuters recalls that after Donald Trump returned to the White House, Ukraine received Patriot missiles through NATO’s PURL program, which is funded by European allies.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

At the same time, Jim Himes stated that discussions in Washington on supporting Ukraine are being complicated by the US war against Iran, which requires significant resources.<\/p>\n

According to him, the resources currently being used in the Persian Gulf should be directed towards US defense and assistance to Ukraine.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, President Volodymyr Zelensky sent a letter to US President Donald Trump<\/a>, in which he warned of the aggravation of problems with Ukraine’s air and missile defense against the backdrop of massive Russian attacks.<\/p>\n
