Petro Poroshenko answered journalists’ questions on the sidelines of the Black Sea Security Forum about the topic of his meeting with President Volodymyr Zelensky. According to him, the main topic was ways to end the war.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“The world has changed, and we must be ready for the changes that are taking place in the world. And the goal, the main goal that should be for holding the forum, in my opinion, is the end of the war. The peace that everyone, the whole world, seeks. Peace on Ukraine’s terms, peace without the transfer of territory or anything. Peace when Russia will be weakened, demonstrating the lack of military successes. And due to the effectiveness of international sanctions, it will be forced to sign peace,” Poroshenko believes.<\/p>\n

“Because all the promises that Russia made a year ago about its military successes, fortunately, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Ukrainian people broke their plan. And this gives us reason for restrained optimism, including here today,” the fifth President believes.<\/p>\n\t

When asked about the meeting between the two presidents, Poroshenko replied: “Firstly, I was very surprised by the wave of interest, concern and hope that our meeting with Zelensky caused. I think this is a positive sign. Secondly, we agreed not to comment on this meeting and I am keeping these agreements. But I can emphasize to you that I went in with some distrust and skepticism about the sincerity of Zelensky’s desire to end the war. And when I left this meeting, I had much less skepticism. We devoted a significant part of our time to how to end the war and how to bring peace. For me, it was very positive,” said Petro Poroshenko. <\/p>\n
