The Ukrainian Defense Forces are increasing medium-range strikes on Russian logistics in the occupied territories from Luhansk Oblast to Crimea. The Institute for the Study of War said that this is creating serious logistical difficulties for Russian troops and slowing their advance.<\/strong><\/p>\n

On Sunday, May 31, the 3rd Army Corps of Ukraine reported that the Ukrainian military, using drones, established fire control over Luhansk, Starobilsk, Alchevsk, Bryanka, and Kadiivka, which are located 50\u201390 kilometers from the front line.<\/p>\n

The corps noted that these actions are part of a broader campaign to target Russian ground communication lines in the Luhansk region. Ukrainian forces also regularly attack armored vehicles and ammunition depots in the region.<\/p>\n

According to the military, Ukrainian drones recently reached the Izvaryne checkpoint on the international border, which is located more than 205 kilometers from the positions of Ukrainian drone operators.<\/p>\n

ISW noted that in recent months, Ukraine has significantly intensified its medium-range strike campaign, which has caused a ripple effect on the battlefield and slowed the advance of Russian troops.<\/p>\n

Analysts also reported that geolocation videos confirm strikes on Russian military equipment along the Debaltseve – Luhansk, X-32 Alchevsk – Kadiivka, X-20 Kostyantynivka – Donetsk, and M-14 Mariupol – Berdyansk – Melitopol – Genichesk highways in the occupied territories of Luhansk and Donetsk regions.<\/p>\n

Russian military bloggers have also acknowledged logistical problems, with one claiming that Ukrainian drones are breaking through Russian air defenses in the occupied Luhansk region and reaching the border with Rostov region.<\/p>\n

Another Russian blogger reported that Ukrainian strikes are significantly disrupting logistics not only along the land corridor between the occupied Zaporizhia and Kherson regions and Crimea, but also throughout the occupied Donetsk and Luhansk regions. He said this has led to fuel shortages and complicated personnel rotation and ammunition supplies.<\/p>\n

“Ukrainian forces are expanding the range of drones from medium range to the front line, disrupting Russia’s ability to move personnel to the front line, secure and maintain front-line positions, and employ the infiltration tactics they have relied on to advance over the past several months,” ISW noted.<\/p>\n
