Attacks on the enemy’s energy infrastructure have also intensified to deprive it of the opportunity to benefit from higher oil prices amid instability in the Middle East.

New attack on Tuapse: drones hit oil refinery, fire breaks out

Attacks on some strategically important facilities were carried out several times to complicate their rapid recovery.

“The Yanos oil refinery, which is jointly owned by Rosneft and Gazprom Neft, was shelled three times in May, while Lukoil facilities in Nizhny Novgorod and Perm were attacked twice,” the publication says.

The impact on Russian supplies is also related to the situation in the Strait of Hormuz, where oil flows have virtually ceased during the conflict in the Middle East.

Russia is also forced to increase oil exports to compensate for the lack of supply from the Persian Gulf.

A decline in oil production could threaten the country with rising inflation and social tensions, as in 2018.

Therefore, the Russian authorities have banned the supply of aviation fuel until the end of November, in addition to the current ban on the export of most types of gasoline.

According to industry veteran and Carnegie Endowment for International Peace scholar Serhiy Vakulenko, Ukraine’s attacks on Russian territory indicate a shift in strategy from previous years. They are now targeting not only primary oil refineries but also secondary systems, which are expensive and technically complex.

In particular, it is noted that secondary installations allow refineries to produce more gasoline and diesel fuel, but their repair can be much more difficult and expensive, as Western sanctions make it difficult to supply spare parts from abroad.

Earlier, “Pryamiy” reported that the Russian government has imposed a temporary ban on the export of aviation kerosene. The restrictions will be in effect until November 30, 2026 inclusive.

Also in the Samara region of Russia, explosions were heard in the area of the Syzran oil refinery at night . After that, local residents reported a fire and thick smoke near the plant.

Also follow “Pryamim” on Facebook , X , Telegram , and Instagram.

Ukrainian attacks on Russian territory reached a record high in May, particularly on Russian refineries, threatening to further reduce oil refining, which is already at a 16-year low, and to increase fuel shortages, as demand increases in the summer.
