In annexed Crimea, a coupon system for AI-95 gasoline and restrictions on the sale of AI-92 began operating on May 31. Due to a fuel shortage, gas stations introduced limits for drivers and banned the sale of gasoline in cans.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was announced<\/a> by Advisor to the Minister of Defense Serhiy Sternenko.<\/p>\n

“Gasoline coupons were first introduced in 1989, shortly before the collapse of the USSR. Since then, Russians have switched to them only a few times at the level of individual cities, but a crisis of this scale has occurred for the first time since 1991,” he wrote.<\/p>\n

It is noted that since May 31, a coupon system for AI-95 gasoline has been in effect in the annexed Crimea. Restrictions on retail sales of fuel have also been recorded in Sevastopol, in the temporarily occupied territory of Zaporizhia region, and in the so-called “DPR”.<\/p>\n

The Russian-appointed “governor” of Crimea, Sergei Aksyonov, announced that AI-95 gasoline will now be sold primarily for municipal and social transport. For other categories of consumers, fuel will be sold by coupons.<\/p>\n

In the ATAN and TEP gas stations, you can only buy AI-95 gasoline if you have coupons. A limit has been set for AI-92 gasoline – no more than 20 liters per car. At the same time, the sale of fuel in canisters has been completely banned. According to Aksyonov, the situation with the fuel shortage is planned to stabilize within a month.<\/p>\n

As recently as May 30, Crimean gas stations were restricted to distributing up to 20 liters of AI-95 gasoline per person per day. Representatives of the local “Ministry of Fuel and Energy” stated that most gas stations had already run out of this type of gasoline.<\/p>\n

Similar restrictions are in place in Sevastopol. On May 22, they introduced diesel fuel coupons and limited the sale of gasoline to 20 liters per person.<\/p>\n

“On May 29, “governor” Mikhail Razvozhaev reported on the “temporary” disappearance of AI-92 and AI-95 and a shortage of diesel fuel,” journalists report.<\/p>\n

It was previously reported that attacks by Ukraine on Russian territory reached a record level in May, particularly on Russian oil refineries, threatening further reductions in oil refining, which is already at its lowest level in 16 years. There is also a threat of a growing shortage of fuel, the demand for which increases in the summer<\/a> .<\/p>\n

We would like to remind you that the Russian government has introduced a temporary ban<\/a> on the export of aviation kerosene. The restrictions will be in effect until November 30, 2026 inclusive.<\/p>\n
