Representatives of big Russian business believe that continuing the war against Ukraine will only deepen the country’s economic problems. In private conversations, they call a cessation of hostilities the only real way to avoid a serious crisis.<\/strong><\/p>\n

According to the agency, Vladimir Putin has instructed the government to look for ways to restore economic growth. However, Reuters’ interlocutors from among the big business representatives are convinced that no economic measures will yield results without an end to the war.<\/p>\n

Officially, the Russian government explains the problems by the Central Bank’s high key rate, Western sanctions, and the strengthening of the ruble. At the same time, businessmen point to another reason – the consequences of the war and regular strikes by Ukrainian drones on strategic objects.<\/p>\n

As Reuters notes, Ukrainian drones have repeatedly attacked oil refineries, chemical industry enterprises, and seaports, causing some industries to temporarily stop working or reduce capacity.<\/p>\n

According to the agency’s estimates, the attacks have significantly affected the work of Russian industry. In particular, the targets were facilities that are important for the export of petroleum products and filling the Russian state budget.<\/p>\n

Against this background, calls for an early end to the war are increasingly being heard among representatives of big business, as its continuation, in their opinion, only increases the pressure on the Russian economy.<\/p>\n

As previously reported, Ukrainian attacks on Russian territory reached a record high in May, particularly on Russian refineries, threatening to further reduce oil refining,<\/a> which is already at its lowest level in 16 years. There is also a threat of a growing shortage of fuel, the demand for which increases in the summer.<\/p>\n

We would like to remind you that the Russian government has introduced a temporary ban<\/a> on the export of aviation kerosene. The restrictions will be in effect until November 30, 2026 inclusive.<\/p>\n
