The SBU counterintelligence has detained a Russian agent in Transcarpathia who was spying on defense factories. The recruit turned out to be an employee of a local factory who was spying on enterprises that fulfilled defense orders in the west of the country.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was reported<\/a> by the press service of the SBU.<\/p>\n

According to the investigation, the man tracked the addresses of such enterprises, and also sought information about the types and volumes of their products.<\/p>\n

The recruit also compiled a “file” on the employees of the relevant facilities, including their personal data and specific work schedules.<\/p>\n

It is known that the enemy planned to use this information to prepare air attacks on Ukrainian defense industry plants and carry out terrorist attacks against company officials, in particular development engineers.<\/p>\n

To obtain the necessary data, the man covertly interrogated his former colleagues who work at various Ukrainian defense enterprises.<\/p>\n

In such conversations, the recruit usually explained his interest by saying that he wanted to adopt best practices and therefore showed professional interest, in particular, in the latest developments in the defense industry and the specialists involved in it.<\/p>\n

The man passed the obtained data to the Russian special services through his father, who lives in Kaliningrad and also cooperates with the special services.<\/p>\n

In the future, he was supposed to get a job at another defense enterprise and collect intelligence there.<\/p>\n

During the attacks, he was promised advance warning using a code word to get the man out of the attack zone.<\/p>\n

The SBU employees acted proactively and prevented the man from getting a job at another defense enterprise.<\/p>\n

The recruit was detained at his place of residence. During a search of his home, mobile phones with evidence of working for the enemy were found.<\/p>\n

Weapons and ammunition were also seized from the detainee, the origin of which is currently being investigated by law enforcement officers.<\/p>\n

The detainee was informed of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (high treason committed under martial law).<\/p>\n

The perpetrator faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.<\/p>\n

Previously, “Pryamiy” reported that the SBU detained<\/a> a Russian agent who was coordinating the Russian attack on Kyiv on the night of May 24.<\/p>\n

The Security Service of Ukraine also detained a cleric<\/a> of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate, who directed fire on Odessa in March 2024.<\/p>\n
