The Security Service of Ukraine, together with the Bureau of Economic Security, exposed a group of individuals who massively produced fake Ukrainian documents for the legalization of foreigners in the countries of the European Union.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was reported<\/a> by the press service of the SBU.<\/p>\n

According to the investigation, the criminals organized the mass production and sale of fake Ukrainian documents to foreign citizens. The main buyers were people from the Middle East.<\/p>\n

Foreigners used the documents they received to travel to the EU and legally reside in European countries.<\/p>\n

As a result of the special operation, law enforcement officers exposed two groups of criminals in Kyiv and Bukovina. A total of 15 people were detained, including the organizers and participants of the scheme.<\/p>\n

Among the fake documents sold by the suspects were Ukrainian passports, driver’s licenses, and temporary residence permits in Ukraine.<\/p>\n

The cost of one document ranged from 2 to 25 thousand US dollars, depending on its type and the urgency of production.<\/p>\n

According to the investigation, each year, the participants in the scheme received about 15 million hryvnias in profit, which was distributed among all those involved.<\/p>\n

Law enforcement officers established that the fake documents were purchased mainly by foreigners associated with international criminal and terrorist groups.<\/p>\n

Among the buyers was a member of the international terrorist organization Islamic State Vilayat Khorasan<\/span><\/span> , who had previously been convicted in one of the European Union countries.<\/p>\n

According to the SBU, the organizers of the scheme were a former local council member and an entrepreneur from Chernivtsi, as well as a couple from Vyshgorod, who set up an underground workshop in their own house.<\/p>\n

During the searches, law enforcement officers seized computer equipment for making false documents, document forms of Ukrainian citizens, and cash obtained through criminal means.<\/p>\n

In particular, the defendants were informed of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 199 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – manufacturing, storage, purchase, shipment and sale of holographic security elements, committed by a group of persons in a prior conspiracy.<\/p>\n

The perpetrators face up to 10 years in prison with confiscation of property.<\/p>\n

Previously, “Pryamiy” reported that the SBU and BEB exposed a company<\/a> that was embezzling funds allocated for the construction of a command post of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Zhytomyr region.<\/p>\n
