Finland has seized about 3.7 million euros belonging to Russia. The money could be used to pay compensation to Ukraine’s Naftogaz.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This concerns funds that Russia contributed to a cross-border cooperation program with the European Union before the start of the full-scale war. After the invasion, the program was closed, and the money remained in Finland.<\/p>\n

Now they are claimed by Naftogaz and its subsidiaries, which are seeking compensation for losses caused by Russian aggression.<\/p>\n

The Finnish Enforcement Service explained that for now, it is only about seizing assets. Until a final decision is made, Russia cannot dispose of these funds.<\/p>\n

According to Yle, this is not the first such case. Since 2024, Finnish authorities have already seized Russian assets worth over 40 million euros.<\/p>\n
