Ukraine and the European Union<\/span><\/span> may open two negotiating clusters as early as June as part of the EU accession process.<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Radio Liberty reported this, citing an internal document from the EU Council.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

It is noted that the expansion of the negotiation process became possible thanks to progress in consultations between Ukraine and Hungary<\/span><\/span> on the rights of the Hungarian national minority.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

It was the positive dynamics in relations with Budapest that allowed the European side to consider opening not one, but two negotiation clusters at once.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The intergovernmental conference is tentatively scheduled for June 15 in Luxembourg<\/span><\/span> . However, the EU notes that the schedule is not yet final and may change depending on the progress of the negotiations.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The document also notes that the Cyprus<\/span><\/span> Presidency of the Council of the EU confirmed its intention to hold intergovernmental conferences in the General Affairs Council in June, but allows for the possibility of last-minute adjustments.<\/p>\n

The opening of new negotiation clusters will be another step on Ukraine’s path to full membership in the European Union.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

As a reminder, the European Union expects that Ukraine and Moldova will be able to officially move to the next stage of EU accession negotiations as early as June<\/a> .<\/div>\n
