Budapest will not stop purchasing Russian energy supplies, as the country needs to ensure affordable electricity for its population and economy.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was stated by<\/a> Prime Minister Peter Madjar.<\/p>\n

According to him, the government’s main tasks are to ensure energy security, supply stability, and maintaining low energy prices.<\/p>\n

“Hungary has become the poorest and most corrupt country in the EU in recent years. Three million people live below the poverty line,” Madyar stated.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The head of government emphasized that the country is landlocked and heavily dependent on Russian oil, making it impossible to quickly abandon it.<\/p>\n

At the same time, he assured that Hungary is working to diversify its energy sources, but cannot allow the competitiveness of its enterprises to decline and energy poverty to increase among the population.<\/p>\n

In addition, Madyar suggested that after the end of the war in Ukraine, the European Union<\/span><\/span> may partially return to using Russian energy resources and reconsider its sanctions policy towards Russia<\/span><\/span> .<\/p>\n

In his opinion, this issue is related to the competitiveness of the European economy, but the end of the war must be a prerequisite for such changes.<\/p>\n
