Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrsky reported that Russia plans to increase the share of using jet attack drones to 50%.<\/span> This issue requires a timely response.<\/strong><\/p>\n

He announced<\/a> this on social media.<\/p>\n

According to him, Russia is constantly changing the tactics of using UAVs, improving their quality and increasing their quantity. In May, Ukrainian interceptor drones in three echelons of air defense neutralized more than 3.5 thousand drones of various types.<\/p>\n

He also noted that the effectiveness of “small air defense” has increased.<\/p>\n

“The issue of the number of combat units for interceptor drones remains urgent, but the Armed Forces of Ukraine are trying to increase their own capabilities in the production of such elements,” he said.<\/p>\n

He added that aviation is also being used to repel air attacks. In May, Ukrainian helicopters destroyed more than 440 Russian drones of various types.<\/p>\n

“We are equipping helicopters with modern detection and targeting equipment, expanding the line of weapons with new missile weapons, which are already demonstrating excellent results,” Syrsky noted.<\/p>\n

In particular, jet UAVs were first used during attacks on Ukraine in the summer of 2025.<\/p>\n

According to the Ukrainian Air Force, their characteristics are similar to cruise missiles, so they are more difficult to shoot down.<\/p>\n

The average speed of cruise missiles can reach 700 km\/h, while the speed of jet “Shaheeds” is about 300\u2013500 km\/h. At the same time, the military notes that intercepting them is a rather difficult task. Such drones were also used during the shelling of Kyiv on August 28 last year.<\/p>\n

Previously, “Pryamiy” reported that the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrsky, held a meeting<\/a> at which he raised the issue of developing “small air defense” and strengthening its effectiveness.<\/p>\n

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy also held a meeting<\/a> of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief’s Headquarters, during which they discussed support for combat brigades, provision of artillery, and strengthening air defense.<\/p>\n
