Law enforcement officers reported suspicions of a Chechen occupier with the call sign “Talib”, who is suspected of torturing a civilian during the occupation of the Berdyansk district of the Zaporizhia region.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was reported by<\/a> the National Police of Ukraine.<\/p>\n

According to the investigation, in the spring of 2022, a serviceman from one of the units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Chechen Republic, together with other occupiers, set up a torture chamber on the territory of the captured stadium in the village of Osipenko, where civilians were illegally detained.<\/p>\n

In April of that year, Russian soldiers broke into the home of a local family, threatened to shoot them, and kidnapped the owner. The man was taken to a torture chamber, where he was held for over a month.<\/p>\n

“The man was beaten with a hammer on the head and back, handcuffed to a metal pipe, threatened with murder, and repeatedly simulated execution by shooting him in the head,” the National Police reported.<\/p>\n

According to law enforcement officials, the victim was illegally detained in inhumane conditions for 43 days without proper food, drinking water, medical care, and access to basic sanitation.<\/p>\n

In addition, the man’s two minor sons remained under the control of the occupation forces.<\/p>\n

“The children were also threatened with weapons and shooting, which caused severe psychological suffering,” law enforcement officials noted.<\/p>\n

Currently, the occupier with the call sign “Talib” has been reported on suspicion of committing a war crime. Investigators continue to document crimes committed by Russian military personnel in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, the Security Service of Ukraine reported suspicions against Serbian mercenary<\/a> Davor Savic, who is suspected of war crimes during the occupation of the Kyiv region in 2022.<\/p>\n
