Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, during a speech at an economic forum in St. Petersburg, commented on a letter from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, spoke about possible negotiations, the goals of the war, and attacks by Ukrainian drones on Russian territory.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is reported by Russian media.<\/p>\n

One of the main topics was Zelensky’s proposal for a personal meeting. Putin said that he saw no point in such negotiations at this stage and believed that the parties should first work out possible solutions.<\/p>\n

“I’m saying that I don’t see the point in meeting. We need agreements not for six months, not for three months, but for a long historical perspective,” he said.<\/p>\n

The head of the Kremlin also said that he had read Zelensky’s letter and called its content rude.<\/p>\n

“This letter really contains elements of rudeness,” Putin said.<\/p>\n

Separately, he again raised the topic of holding elections in Ukraine and once again repeated Russian narratives regarding the Ukrainian authorities.<\/p>\n

Speaking about the goals of the war, Putin stated that the Russian Federation’s primary task remains the capture of Donbas.<\/p>\n

“The first task is to achieve the liberation of Donbas,” said the Russian dictator.<\/p>\n

At the same time, he added that Russia is allegedly ready to discuss some other issues, in particular the so-called “denazification”, within the framework of the negotiation process.<\/p>\n

During his speech, Putin also acknowledged that Ukrainian drone strikes on Russian territory were creating problems for the Russian side.<\/p>\n

“For us, this means only one thing – we must strengthen the air defense system. And we will do it,” he said.<\/p>\n

In addition, the Kremlin leader once again repeated his usual accusations against Ukraine and the West, which have been repeatedly refuted by international partners and independent experts.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, President Volodymyr Zelensky published an open letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin<\/a> . In it, he called on the Russian leader to end the war and offered to hold a personal meeting.<\/p>\n
