US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent is exploring the possibility of using frozen Iranian assets to finance the reconstruction of Persian Gulf countries damaged by attacks related to the conflict over Iran.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Financial Times reports this, citing a US administration representative.<\/p>\n

According to the publication, the initiative emerged following a series of attacks on Washington’s close allies in the region, including Kuwait and Bahrain. Against this backdrop, American forces struck Iranian targets despite the fragile ceasefire between the United States and Iran.<\/p>\n

According to the official, the US Treasury Department intends to use all available mechanisms to channel Iranian assets to support its allies in the Persian Gulf. Bessent has already instructed his team to assess the extent of the damage and obtain detailed estimates of infrastructure restoration costs from partners.<\/p>\n

Washington is also exploring the possibility of using Iranian assets to cover damage caused by preliminary attacks, if legal mechanisms allow it.<\/p>\n

This is a preliminary stage of assessing and preparing potential solutions. Final decisions regarding the confiscation or transfer of specific assets have not yet been announced.<\/p>\n

It was previously reported that the US and Iran could soon agree on a framework agreement<\/a> that would ease tensions in the region and pave the way for full-fledged negotiations on the nuclear program.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced the end of the military operation against Iran, known as Epic Fury, which had been ongoing since February.<\/a><\/p>\n
