Voting has concluded in Armenia in important parliamentary elections to the National Assembly, where citizens chose the future course of the country.<\/strong><\/p>\n

As JAMnews reports<\/a> , this vote is one of the most important in recent years due to Yerevan’s desire to gradually withdraw from the Russian Federation’s zone of influence.<\/p>\n

The main confrontation unfolded between the leading political force “Civil Contract” of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and the pro-Russian opposition bloc “Strong Armenia”, which is backed by billionaire Samvel Karapetyan, whose fortune is estimated by Forbes at $4.1 billion.<\/p>\n

According to the May Gallup International Association polls, the ruling party had 28.8% support, while the opposition bloc “Strong Armenia” had 14.9%.<\/p>\n

Voter turnout reportedly increased throughout the day, exceeding 30% in the afternoon. There were reports of isolated violations during the voting and in the run-up to the election. Opposition forces reported pressure on their representatives and candidates, while international observers recorded isolated procedural incidents.<\/p>\n\t\t
