And they are doing so at a time when Kyiv has seized the initiative on the battlefield, demonstrating both the pace it has gained and the ability to strike deep into Russian territory,” Sky News reports.

According to journalists, this is a signal to Moscow that Ukraine retains the ability to continue the fight. At the same time, it is also a message to Washington that Europe seeks to play a key role in future negotiations to end the war.

The publication also emphasizes that, despite the lack of significant successes on the front, Russian President Vladimir Putin is not demonstrating readiness to end the war.

“Moscow, as before, is demanding territorial concessions from Kyiv — a sign that hostilities are likely to continue,” the publication notes.

A joint statement by the leaders was published on the website of the President of Ukraine, in which they outlined the conditions for achieving a just and lasting peace.

Among the key provisions:

The leaders called on Russia to agree to an immediate and complete ceasefire.

The current front line should be the starting point for negotiations.
