Law enforcement officers of the National Police have exposed and detained a Russian agent who was preparing to assassinate an official of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. The perpetrator is currently detained and is in custody.<\/strong><\/p>\n

According to the investigation, Russian special services recruited a 38-year-old resident of Kyiv, promising him a monetary reward for completing the task. For the “liquidation” of one of the heads of the structural unit<\/p>\n

The GUR of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine offered him 100 thousand US dollars, of which 10 thousand was transferred as an advance.<\/p>\n

It is known that the detainee has previously been held criminally liable for property crimes.<\/p>\n

To implement the criminal plan, the man studied in detail the official’s route, his daily schedule, place of residence, means of transport, and nearby infrastructure.<\/p>\n

After gathering information, the suspect determined the method of committing the crime \u2014 using an FPV drone \u2014 and also began looking for a perpetrator with drone-flying skills.<\/p>\n

The assassination attempt was being prepared against the representative for strategic communications of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, deputy head of the Coordination Headquarters for the treatment of prisoners of war, and advisor to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Yusov.<\/p>\n

However, he failed to implement the plan. With the forceful support of the police special forces, in cooperation with the VB GUR of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, criminal investigation officers and investigators detained him.<\/p>\n

During a search of the apartment, mobile phones, a GPS tracker, a car, and other physical evidence were seized.<\/p>\n

The detainee was informed of suspicion under Part 1 of Article 14, Part 2 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (preparation for premeditated murder for selfish motives). The sanction of the article provides for a penalty of imprisonment for a term of 10 to 15 years or life imprisonment.<\/p>\n

Previously, “Pryamiy” reported that in Dnipro, police detained a man<\/a> suspected of murdering an 11-year-old boy.<\/p>\n

The SBU and the National Police also detained a 17-year-old student in the Kharkiv region<\/a> , who is suspected of cooperating with Russian special services and transmitting data about the Defense Forces of Ukraine.<\/p>\n
