Military engineers and scientists of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine have thoroughly examined the Russian Kalibr cruise missiles shot down by air defense forces and discovered a number of features of their design.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was reported<\/a> by the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.<\/p>\n

Specialists conducted a detailed analysis of the rocket, disassembled its design into individual boards, checked each component, and compiled a complete structural and functional diagram.<\/p>\n

During the full-scale invasion, the missile underwent significant changes: it received a cluster warhead and returned to using imported electronics after a failed attempt to switch to Russian components.<\/p>\n

“Production of the missile began in 2001, and it was adopted for service in 2004. At the same time, while studying the markings of individual components, specialists from the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine discovered parts with markings indicating developments back in 1986. In particular, steering mechanisms with the marking “ZP-51″,” the department noted.<\/p>\n

Some of the components of the Kalibr missiles are fully unified with other Russian missile systems. The tail unit, satellite navigation system, and onboard digital computer (ODC) are also used in the Iskander cruise missiles. Individual blocks are identical to the components of the Bereg and Bastion complexes.<\/p>\n

The Kalibr missiles, which were used in 2022\u20132025, used a high-explosive fragmentation warhead. Its inner lining contains about 3,600 striking elements made of ordinary steel. According to the Ministry of Defense, each of them is capable of penetrating up to 10 centimeters of concrete.<\/p>\n

In 2026, Defense Ministry specialists discovered a new modification. The missiles shot down this spring were equipped with a cluster warhead similar to that used in the Kh-101 missiles.<\/p>\n

It is known that a cluster warhead significantly increases the area of damage.<\/p>\n

Currently, specialists from the Ministry of Defense continue to study the new warhead of the Kalibr missiles.<\/p>\n
