Tensions have risen again on the border between Pakistan and Afghanistan. The Pakistani military has carried out airstrikes on the territory of the neighboring country, claiming to have killed dozens of militants. At the same time, the Afghan side is reporting civilian casualties.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Pakistan’s Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said the military operation was a response to recent terrorist attacks in the country.<\/p>\n

“As a result of pinpoint strikes, four targets were hit and 26 militants were eliminated,” he said.<\/p>\n

According to the official, among the destroyed facilities were a training center and an ammunition depot allegedly used by armed groups near the border.<\/p>\n

At the same time, representatives of the Taliban movement, which controls Afghanistan, announced much more serious consequences of the strikes.<\/p>\n

“As a result of attacks in the provinces of Kunar, Khost and Paktika, 13 people were killed, including 11 children,” Afghan authorities said.<\/p>\n

There is currently no official independent confirmation of the losses.<\/p>\n

These are the first airstrikes by Pakistan on Afghan territory since February of this year, when border clashes killed hundreds of people and became one of the most serious escalations between the countries in recent years.<\/p>\n

Despite a ceasefire agreement reached last fall, relations between Islamabad and Kabul remain tense, with Pakistan regularly accusing Afghan authorities of harboring militants who carry out attacks on its territory.<\/p>\n

In turn, the Taliban reject these accusations and state that they do not allow the use of Afghan territory for attacks against neighboring states.<\/p>\n
