Today, June 11, the 2026 FIFA World Cup begins. For the first time, it will be held in three countries \u2013 the United States, Mexico, and Canada. The opening match of the tournament will feature the national teams of Mexico and South Africa.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The match will take place at the famous Estadio Azteca in Mexico City. Kickoff is at 10:00 PM Kyiv time. The teams are playing in Group A.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Mexican national team represents one of the current World Cup hosts. Furthermore, Mexico is the current holder of the CONCACAF Gold Cup, which it won last year by defeating the other 2026 World Cup host, the United States, 2-1.<\/p>\n

The South African national team last played in the World Cup in 2010, when South Africa hosted the tournament. Mexico and South Africa have met three times, and so far, the record is even: one win each and one draw.<\/p>\n
