According to him, the longer a serviceman has been in the army and participated in combat operations, the longer the guaranteed deferral will be.

He wrote about this in Telegram .

Fedorov stated that one of the principles of the new contract system is to fairly take into account the path already covered by a serviceman. After the contract ends, servicemen will be guaranteed a deferment. Its duration will depend not only on the type of contract, but also on the previous term of service and participation in hostilities.

The minister noted that separate deferral calculation mechanisms will apply for different types of contracts, which will take into account combat experience and years of service.

Fedorov explained that the guaranteed deferment for everyone will be 6 months . The further period will depend on the type of contract concluded and how long the person served.

As an example, he gave a civilian who signed an infantry assault contract for 14 months . If during his service the soldier spent 4 months on combat missions , he would receive 1 2 months of deferment . Together with the guaranteed 6 months, the total term would be 1 year and 6 months .

The minister also gave the example of a current serviceman who has been in the army since 2021 and signed such a contract for 10 months. In this case, 6 months will be added to the deferment for each year of service from 2022 and 1 month for each year of service until 2022.

According to Fedorov, in this case, 2 more years and 1 month are added to the 1 year and 6 months of deferment . As a result, after the contract ends, the serviceman will receive 3 years and 7 months of deferment .

The minister stressed that “our task is to make the military service system predictable and fair.” He added that those who have defended the country longer should be given more time to recover after completing their service.

Fedorov also noted that this applies to servicemen who have been in the Defense Forces the longest and have spent the most time on combat missions. According to him, “for them, we are beginning a gradual release from service by the end of the year.”

Detailed terms of new contracts and the procedure for calculating deferrals, according to the minister, can be found on the website of the Defense Forces contract system and by calling the hotline number 1519.

By the way, the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Mykhailo Fedorov announcedthe launch of a simplified mechanism for the return of servicemen after leaving a unit without permission through the “Army+” application . Servicemen can independently choose a new unit and go through the return procedure without unnecessary bureaucracy.

Recall that the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine announced a comprehensive transformation of military service , which includes new contracts with clear deadlines, increased payments and guaranteed deferrals after completion of service. The changes also include automatic transfer between units and simplified return of servicemen who voluntarily left the service.

Also follow “Pryamim” on Facebook , X , Telegram , and Instagram.

Defense Minister Mikhail Fedorov explained the procedure for granting deferrals after completing service under new contracts.
