A Norwegian court has found Crown Princess Mette-Marit’s son, Marius Borg Hoybe, guilty of two counts of rape and domestic violence. He was sentenced to four years in prison and ordered to pay compensation to the victims.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The court found that one of the incidents<\/strong> occurred in 2018 at the crown prince’s residence at Skaugum Estate near Oslo. The other incident occurred after an Easter party in 2024 at the woman’s apartment in Oslo.<\/p>\n

In the Skaugum incident, the court found that the victim was asleep during the sexual act. “She closed her eyes, lay in the same position for a certain period of time and did not respond to touch or stimulation. There were no sounds or movements that would indicate that she was awake,” Judge Jon Sverdrup Efjestad read out the decision.<\/p>\n

Regarding the second episode,<\/strong> the court found that after consensual sexual intercourse, the woman fell asleep, after which Hoibi committed rape. “The court finds it proven that the victim could not have resisted the actions at that time,” the judge noted.<\/p>\n

The court also found Marius Borg Hoibi guilty of repeated physical violence against his former partner Nora Haukland.<\/p>\n

In total, Hoibi was charged with more than 30 crimes<\/strong> , including rape, domestic violence, sexual harassment, illegal filming of women without their consent, death threats, assault on a police officer and traffic violations. The court acquitted the crown princess’s 29-year-old son of two other rape charges.<\/p>\n

During his trial , Hoibi pleaded guilty to 25 charges<\/strong> , including marijuana possession, traffic violations, failure to comply with police orders, and assault on officers. He did not plead guilty to any of the four rape charges.<\/p>\n

The court also ordered Hoiby to pay 640,000 Norwegian kroner in compensation<\/strong> to the four victims. Prosecutors had demanded a sentence of 7 years and 7 months in prison for him.<\/p>\n

Marius Borg Hoibi was first arrested in August 2024 after his ex-girlfriend reported physical abuse and property damage. He was subsequently detained twice more and later charged with rape. An Oslo court had previously ordered his arrest with a ban on correspondence and visits.<\/p>\n
