The document outlines key principles for cooperation, including on issues such as the nuclear program, sanctions, and regional security.

This was reported to the Public by two senior US officials on condition of anonymity.

According to them, the document was signed on the American side by President Donald Trump and Vice President Jayde Vance. On the Iranian side, Parliament Speaker Mohammad Ghalibaf signed.

Washington says the memorandum is not a final agreement, but should be a starting point for further dialogue between the parties.

One of the main issues remains Iran’s nuclear program. According to the parties, the more actively Tehran cooperates in controlling its nuclear activities and proves that it has no intention of creating nuclear weapons, the more opportunities it will have to return to the global economy.

The US does not hide that it is ready to gradually ease sanctions, but only in response to specific steps from Iran.

“We are ready to gradually ease sanctions and take small steps in return if Iran also takes small steps that confirm its readiness to fulfill its commitments,” a US administration official said.

Another important point of agreement was the issue of the Strait of Hormuz. The parties agreed to begin the process of opening it to international shipping and gradually lifting restrictions in the region.

According to American officials, it will not be possible to fully restore ship traffic immediately. First, it is necessary to clear individual areas of mines and convince shipping companies of the safety of the route.

However, Washington expects that the number of ships in the strait will begin to increase in the coming days, and within a few weeks, traffic will approach normal levels.

The memorandum also provides for the possibility of reducing the American military presence in the region after a full agreement is concluded between the parties. However, there is no talk of such steps at the moment.

The United States believes that reaching final agreements is possible if Iran agrees to further concessions on its nuclear program and fulfills its commitments.

As a reminder, Iran announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz to shipping amid a new escalation with the United States. However, Washington claims that the movement of ships through the strategic sea route continues as usual.

As reported, on the night of June 11, the United States continued its military operation against Iran and launched a new series of strikes on facilities that, according to the American side, are related to the country’s defense infrastructure.

It should be noted that the US launched new strikes on Iranian territory after an Iranian drone shot down an American AH-64 Apache attack helicopter near the Strait of Hormuz .

Also follow “Pryamim” on Facebook , X , Telegram , and Instagram.

The United States and Iran have signed a memorandum of understanding that is intended to serve as the basis for further negotiations between the countries.
