The State Bureau of Investigation has initiated criminal proceedings into the death of a 29-year-old man after his stay in one of the territorial recruitment and social support centers in Transcarpathia.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is stated<\/a> in the corresponding SBI post.<\/p>\n

The basis for initiating the investigation was information that was disseminated in the media and social networks about the possible use of violence against a man during his stay in the CCC and the SP.<\/p>\n

The State Bureau of Investigation reported that investigators are currently establishing all the circumstances of the incident, including checking the actions of the center’s officials and the timeliness of the provision of medical assistance.<\/p>\n

“Protecting human rights and thoroughly verifying reports of possible illegal actions by officials is one of the priority areas of the State Bureau of Investigation,” the department noted.<\/p>\n

According to preliminary data, while staying at the CCC, the man complained of worsening health. He was taken to a medical facility twice.<\/p>\n

After the first treatment, the doctors provided him with the necessary assistance and discharged him, after which the man was returned to the CCC and SP.<\/p>\n

The next day, he was re-hospitalized in critical condition after a sudden cardiac arrest. Despite resuscitation efforts, the man died a few days later without regaining consciousness.<\/p>\n

Based on this fact, information was entered into the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations under Part 5 of Article 426-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – abuse of power or official authority by a military official under martial law.<\/p>\n

“Currently, priority investigative actions are underway. SBI employees are establishing all the circumstances of the incident, checking the actions of officials of the CCC and the SP, as well as the timeliness and completeness of the provision of medical assistance,” the State Bureau of Investigation reported.<\/p>\n

Forensic examinations are being ordered to establish the final cause of death. The procedural management of the case is carried out by the Transcarpathian Specialized Prosecutor’s Office in the Field of Defense of the Western Region.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, representatives of the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights conducted a monitoring visit to the Ternopil district and city CCC and the SP and recorded possible violations of citizens’ rights. As a result of the intervention , five people who were not subject to mobilization were released from the CCC premises.<\/a><\/p>\n

As reported, on May 23, a 46-year-old man died in the premises of the Ternopil territorial recruitment center, who was taken to clarify his military registration data<\/a> . Law enforcement officers are preliminary investigating the case as a suicide.<\/p>\n
