Canada has announced a new package of sanctions against Russia. The restrictions include representatives of the Russian energy sector, defense industry, propaganda structures, as well as vessels of the so-called shadow fleet.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was stated<\/a> in a statement from the office of Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney after his meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in France.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Ottawa stated that in this way they want to increase pressure on the Kremlin and support Ukraine in times of war.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The new sanctions package includes 162 individuals and legal entities. The restrictions also include vessels that Russia uses to transport oil in circumvention of international sanctions.<\/p>\n

The Canadian government emphasized that the sanctions are aimed at Russia’s sources of revenue, its military-industrial complex, and networks that are engaged in the spread of disinformation.<\/p>\n

In addition to sanctions, during his meeting with Zelensky, Prime Minister Mark Carney confirmed Canada’s readiness to participate in the reconstruction of Ukraine after the war.<\/p>\n

This primarily concerns cooperation in energy, infrastructure development, and the introduction of modern technologies. Ottawa also emphasized the importance of continuing reforms that will help Ukraine maintain stability during the war and in the post-war period.<\/p>\n

As previously reported, the UK has announced a new package of sanctions against Russia<\/a> , which is intended to target schemes to circumvent Western restrictions. The new measures apply to vessels transporting Russian oil, LNG tankers, intermediaries and structures linked to Russian military intelligence.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, the European Union has approved another package of sanctions against Russia. The new restrictions target enterprises of the Russian military-industrial complex, companies associated with the shadow fleet, the oil business, and Kremlin propagandists.<\/a><\/p>\n
