Switzerland has imposed new sanctions against Russia, adding 23 more individuals and legal entities to the restrictive list. Among them are people and structures linked to activities in the occupied territories of Ukraine.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was announced<\/a> by the government of the Swiss Confederation.<\/p>\n

The Federal Department of Economics, Education and Research (EAER) on June 15 added 16 individuals and 7 organizations to the sanctions lists.<\/p>\n

The new restrictions came into effect on the evening of June 16.<\/p>\n

According to Swiss authorities, the so-called leaders of youth organizations in Sevastopol and other regions of Ukraine occupied by Russia have been sanctioned. Teachers and leaders of children’s organizations have also been added to the list.<\/p>\n

The Swiss government stated that these individuals may be involved in programs of ideological influence on Ukrainian children.<\/p>\n

“This is about the implementation of a program of assimilation of Ukrainian children, their ideological upbringing and militarized education in accordance with Russian state policy,” the Swiss authorities explained.<\/p>\n

It is also noted that some of the individuals who have been sanctioned are involved in the deportation, forced displacement, and attempts to assimilate minor Ukrainians from the temporarily occupied territories.<\/p>\n

The new restrictions provide for the application of sanctions measures in accordance with Swiss law against individuals and organizations that, in Bern’s assessment, are involved in these actions.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, the UK has announced a new package of sanctions against Russia<\/a> , which is intended to target schemes to circumvent Western restrictions. The new measures apply to vessels transporting Russian oil, LNG tankers, intermediaries and structures linked to Russian military intelligence.<\/p>\n

As reported, Canada announced a new package of sanctions against Russia<\/a> . The restrictions include representatives of the Russian energy sector, defense industry, propaganda structures, as well as vessels of the so-called shadow fleet.<\/p>\n

In addition, the G7 countries announced increased economic pressure on Russia<\/a> . In particular, new restrictions are being imposed on the oil and gas sectors, which remain one of the main sources of financing for the Russian military machine.<\/p>\n
