US President Donald Trump said Washington is exploring licensing the production of American missiles outside the United States, a move that could pave the way for expanded production of interceptor missiles needed to protect Ukraine from Russian ballistic strikes.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is reported by<\/a> Bloomberg.<\/p>\n

The issue was discussed during the G7 summit. Currently, the United States remains the only country that produces interceptor missiles capable of effectively destroying ballistic missiles. At the same time, American stocks are dwindling, and increasing production takes time.<\/p>\n

Commenting on the possibility of transferring licenses to allies, Trump confirmed that this issue is under consideration.<\/p>\n

“They would like to do it, we will look into it,” the US president said.<\/p>\n

This is a mechanism under which American defense companies can grant European manufacturers the right to produce certain types of weapons using American technology and standards.<\/p>\n

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said that details of potential cooperation would still be discussed between the partner countries.<\/p>\n

“This is about the possibility of granting comprehensive licenses to European manufacturers to produce the appropriate weapons,” Merz noted.<\/p>\n

The issue of military production was also mentioned separately in the final statement of the G7 leaders. The document emphasizes the readiness to consider granting Ukraine licenses that would allow increasing the production of certain types of weapons directly at Ukrainian enterprises.<\/p>\n

“We are ready to consider the possibility of extending licenses to Ukraine that would allow it to increase its military production,” the G7 joint statement said.<\/p>\n

Final decisions on the transfer of licenses have not yet been made, but the discussion itself indicates the search for new mechanisms to strengthen the defense capabilities of Ukraine and NATO partners.<\/p>\n

The day before, it became known that the United States has not yet allowed the production of Patriot air defense systems in Europe<\/a> , but has stated its readiness to consider the possibility of such a step. The issue was discussed during the meeting of G7 leaders with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, at the end of May, Volodymyr Zelenskyy sent a letter to US President Donald Trump, in which he warned of the aggravation of problems with Ukraine’s air and missile defense against the backdrop of massive Russian attacks.<\/a><\/p>\n

Zelensky later commented on the massive combined attack that the Russian Federation launched on Ukraine on the night of June 2. He noted that the help of allies and Patriot missiles is needed to protect Ukrainian cities from ballistic missiles.<\/a><\/p>\n

As reported, Lockheed Martin stated that the supply of missiles for Patriot air defense systems remains a big question mark and there is currently no exact date for their transfer to US allies.<\/a><\/p>\n

It should be noted that Ukraine may obtain a license to produce missiles for Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems.<\/a><\/p>\n

By the way, the leaders of the G7 countries confirmed their intention to strengthen military and economic support for Ukraine. Among the priorities: increasing supplies of air defense systems, long-range weapons, and assistance in the development of Ukrainian defense production<\/a> .<\/p>\n
