On Thursday, June 18, the WTA 500 tournament in Berlin continues with a second-round clash as Ukraine\u2019s top seed Elina Svitolina (WTA No. 8) takes on Germany\u2019s Eva Lys (WTA No. 80) in a high-profile matchup on home soil for the German playe<\/strong>r.<\/p>\n

The match will start at 13:30 Kyiv time.<\/p>\n

Elina Svitolina is considered the favorite in this match, and not only because of her higher ranking. The Ukrainian tennis player is enjoying a strong and consistent season, having already won two tournaments \u2013 in Auckland and Rome.<\/p>\n

Eva Lis was born in Kyiv but moved to Germany as a child. This season, she played only 14 matches due to a knee injury.<\/p>\n

These tennis players had previously met at a clay-court tournament in Stuttgart. Elina Svitolina won that match decisively, 6-1, 6-0.<\/p>\n
