Most Ukrainians are not ready to agree to a complete withdrawal of the Defense Forces from Donbas in order to end the war. At the same time, half of those surveyed believe that the most likely scenario for the cessation of hostilities is a “freezing” of the war along the current front line.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is evidenced by the results of the survey “Socio-political sentiments of Ukrainians (June 2026)”, conducted by New Image Marketing Group together with “Business Capital”.<\/a><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The survey participants were asked whether they would be willing to agree to a complete withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from the Donbass region in order to end the war. The results were also compared with a similar survey conducted in March 2026.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The largest share of respondents – 34% – said they were not at all ready for such a step. In March, 33% of those polled held this opinion.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Another 29% said they were more likely not to agree to the withdrawal of troops, up from 27% in March.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

At the same time, 25% of respondents said they were more likely to support this option. This is three percentage points less than in the spring, when 28% believed so.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The share of those who are completely ready to agree to the withdrawal of troops from Donbas remained unchanged – 12%.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The largest number of those categorically not ready for such a decision is among men – 40% versus 28% among women. By age, the largest share of opponents of the withdrawal of troops is made up of Ukrainians aged 45-54 (40%), followed by respondents aged 55+ (38%), 30-44 (29%), and 18-29 (26%).<\/p>\n

By region, the largest number of those who are not ready for such a compromise live in the Center and the North (36%). In Kyiv, as well as in the East and South, this figure is 34%, and in the West – 30%.<\/p>\n

14% of men and 11% of women fully support the withdrawal of troops. The largest number of supporters of such a decision is among Ukrainians aged 30-44 (16%). By region, the highest figure was recorded in Kyiv, as well as in the East and South \u2014 15%. In the Center and North, such figures are 11%, in the West – 10%. <\/p>\n

In addition, respondents were asked to choose one of four possible scenarios for the end of the war that they considered the most realistic.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The scenario of “freezing” the war along the current front line with the postponement of the issue of de-occupation received the greatest support – it was chosen by 50% of respondents. This option was supported by 54% of men and 46% of women. The largest number of supporters of this scenario is among Ukrainians aged 45-54 (54%). By region, it received support in Kyiv (52%), the Center and the North (52%), the West (50%), and the East and the South (46%). <\/p>\n

The second most popular scenario was a complete de-occupation by military means – it is considered the most likely by 25.5% of respondents. Among women, this option is supported by 28%, among men – by 23%. The largest number of supporters of this scenario is among Ukrainians aged 55 and older (30%).<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The scenario of an immediate end to the war under any conditions was chosen by 13.5% of respondents. It has the greatest support among the younger age groups – 18-29 and 30-44 years old, where it was named the most likely by 17% of respondents each.<\/p>\n

The fewest Ukrainians – 11% – consider a scenario in which Ukraine officially renounces the occupied territories in exchange for joining the EU, NATO, and international security guarantees to be realistic. <\/p>\n

The survey was conducted on June 12-15, 2026 among 800 adult Internet users in Ukraine, excluding the temporarily occupied areas of Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhia, Kherson regions and Crimea. The stated statistical error does not exceed 3.54%. <\/p>\n
