The GUR believes that such actions pose a threat to local residents and does not rule out that Russia is preparing a new provocation.

This was reported by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

According to intelligence information, the occupiers are taking carcasses of cattle infected with anthrax to the burial grounds. There are almost fifty such places in the occupied Kherson region. The most dangerous of them are located near Askania-Nova, Skadovsk, and Zalizny Port.

The GUR says that Russians dispose of infected animals without following basic safety rules. The carcasses are not burned, but simply buried. Most of the animal burial grounds have not been serviced for a long time. They have no fences or other protective structures, and some are located less than a kilometer from residential buildings.

Another problem is the high groundwater level in the areas where some of these burials are located. The intelligence service reminded that the anthrax pathogen can remain viable in the soil for decades, and sometimes for more than a century.

The GUR warns that such actions pose a risk of contamination of soil, livestock, and people. In addition, intelligence does not rule out that Russia may use the cattle cemeteries for provocation “under a foreign flag” and then try to accuse Ukraine of allegedly using “biological weapons.”

Also follow “Pryamim” on Facebook , X , Telegram , and Instagram.

In the temporarily occupied part of the Kherson region, Russian military personnel are creating a dangerous situation that could lead to the spread of anthrax.
