{"id":1409520,"date":"2026-06-24T10:28:16","date_gmt":"2026-06-24T07:28:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/prm.ua\/?p=1409520"},"modified":"2026-06-24T10:28:16","modified_gmt":"2026-06-24T07:28:16","slug":"a-scheme-to-steal-gas-worth-uah-87-5-million-was-exposed-in-chernivtsi-details","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/prm.ua\/en\/a-scheme-to-steal-gas-worth-uah-87-5-million-was-exposed-in-chernivtsi-details\/","title":{"rendered":"A scheme to steal gas worth UAH 87.5 million was exposed in Chernivtsi: details"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>In Chernivtsi, the unauthorized connection of a multi-storey building to the gas distribution system caused losses of at least UAH 87.5 million.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/100088633775719\/posts\/1037556589208791\/?rdid=ShayeLNcGV3qa78W#\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">was announced by<\/a> Serhiy Koretsky, Chairman of the Board of Naftogaz of Ukraine, on Facebook.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the attackers illegally laid a gas pipeline to an apartment building, illegally connected to the gas distribution network, and actually used the gas to operate a local boiler house without proper accounting and payment.<\/p>\n<p>The preliminary damage is estimated at UAH 87.5 million.<\/p>\n<p>The criminal scheme was exposed by specialists from Gazmerezhi and Naftogaz. All materials were transferred to law enforcement agencies for investigation and prosecution of the perpetrators.<\/p>\n<p>Koretsky stressed that Naftogaz of Ukraine will demand compensation for the damages caused.<\/p>\n<p>He also noted that each year, losses from gas theft by household consumers reach billions of hryvnias.
