In the 425th separate assault regiment “Skelya” during the inspection, a group of instructors was identified who were associated with the abuse of servicemen at training grounds. However, according to the Office of the Military Ombudsman, no measures were taken to hold these people accountable.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was stated by<\/a> the military ombudsman Olga Reshetylova.<\/p>\n

According to her, possible violations in the unit became known back in May-June 2025. Initially, it was about individual cases of beatings of soldiers, but after an incident with the leadership of one of the battalions, it became clear that the problem could be systemic.<\/p>\n

During the inspection at the “Skeli” training ground, representatives of the Military Ombudsman’s Office, together with the Military Law Enforcement Service, identified individuals who were linked to the organization of abuse of personnel. 22 servicemen who testified about the beatings were also taken from the unit. According to Reshetilova, this testimony was confirmed during a polygraph test.<\/p>\n

“We managed to identify a group of instructors who organize bullying at training grounds. Unfortunately, the VSP leadership did not take appropriate measures either to hold this group of people accountable or to prevent illegal actions in the future,” the ombudsman noted.<\/p>\n

She added that after an official inspection, the materials were handed over to law enforcement. In total, according to Reshetilova, the Office of the Military Ombudsman sent nine reports about possible crimes in “Skel”.<\/p>\n

Separately, the ombudsman spoke about the problem of servicemen with drug addictions who are undergoing substitution maintenance therapy. According to her, about two thousand such people were found in the unit.<\/p>\n

Reshetylova emphasized that, according to Order No. 402, such servicemen are unfit for service, and in exceptional cases may be recognized as limitedly fit. At the same time, according to her, they should not serve in assault units.<\/p>\n

She also noted that the problem does not concern the entire regiment, as many soldiers serve in “Skel” who are not related to the possible violations.<\/p>\n

Recall, at least 26 recruits of the 425th separate assault regiment “Skelya” died from the end of 2025 to the spring of 2026.<\/a><\/p>\n

As reported, the 425th Separate Assault Regiment “Skelya” responded to a journalistic investigation into the service in the unit and the death of servicemen. The command stated that they were ready to cooperate with the investigation, but urged not to draw conclusions until all checks are completed.<\/a><\/p>\n

The day before, it became known that employees of the State Bureau of Investigation opened criminal proceedings after media publications about possible violations of the rights of servicemen of the “Skelya” assault regiment.<\/a><\/p>\n
