Lithuania will provide Ukraine with almost 10 million euros in additional aid. The new support package was announced by the country’s President Gitanas Nauseda during the Ukraine Recovery Conference (URC).<\/strong><\/p>\n

He stated this at the opening of the Conference on the Restoration of Ukraine in Gdansk, Ukrinform reports<\/a> .<\/p>\n

According to Nauseda, the funds will supplement the assistance already provided by Lithuania to Ukraine.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

In addition to financial support, Vilnius is launching a partnership program between Lithuanian and Ukrainian businesses. It should help attract investments, develop innovations, and implement projects for the reconstruction of Ukraine.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Lithuania is also launching a program of cooperation between communities of the two countries. It will help Ukrainian municipalities attract European Union funding and implement local development projects.<\/p>\n

Separately, Lithuania will continue to install solar power plants with energy storage systems for Ukrainian schools and hospitals. In addition, through the Create Ukraine program, a new recruitment will be opened for young Ukrainian specialists who want to join the reconstruction of the country.<\/p>\n

During his speech, Nauseda also expressed support for Ukraine’s European integration. He stated that it is desirable to complete the opening of all negotiation clusters by July, and Ukraine’s accession to the European Union could take place on January 1, 2030.<\/p>\n

The President of Lithuania also recalled that his country has committed to spending at least 0.25% of its GDP on military and security support for Ukraine every year for ten years, and assured that Lithuania is already exceeding this figure.<\/p>\n

As previously reported, Finland announced an additional contribution of 40 million euros<\/a> to the PURL initiative, which involves the purchase of American weapons for Ukraine.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, the European Union has transferred the first tranche of macro-financial assistance to Ukraine in the amount of 3.2 billion euros.<\/a> The funds are part of a large-scale loan package of 90 billion euros that the EU plans to provide to Ukraine over the next two years.<\/p>\n
