US President Donald Trump told Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy this week during a dinner in Evian-les-Bains, where the G7 summit was being held, that he was impressed with Ukraine’s military successes.<\/strong><\/p>\n

It is known that government officials have noted a shift in Trump’s stance \u2014 he is becoming more favorable to Ukraine, in particular in terms of increasing support for Kyiv and, perhaps, more inclined to put pressure on Russia. At the same time, they are skeptical of the US president’s statements, as he has previously made promises that have not been kept.<\/p>\n

“Ukraine is doing well. It is doing extremely well. They are still ahead when it comes to innovation, for example in drone technology – there are more of them and they are successfully hitting important energy, defense and support infrastructure in Russia. We see that the total production of oil refineries in Russia has decreased by one third,” Rutte said.<\/p>\n

He also added that Trump believes that Ukraine has made significant military successes, so it is worth increasing aid to Kyiv. According to Rutte, Russia is currently experiencing economic difficulties and state resources are being depleted.<\/p>\n

After Trump’s meeting with Zelensky and other leaders, the parties expressed hope for progress on the supply of Patriot interceptor missiles and licenses for the production of weapons.<\/p>\n

At the G7 summit, the US president was “extremely shocked and impressed” by Ukraine’s strikes on strategic military facilities behind enemy lines.<\/p>\n

In particular, after the meeting, Zelensky noted that Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio “for the first time responded positively to the issue of licenses” for Patriot interceptor missiles.<\/p>\n

“When Ukraine has proper supplies, it can achieve real operational results. Russian defense lines are not impregnable,” said one senior NATO official.<\/p>\n

Earlier, US President Donald Trump said that Washington is exploring the possibility of licensing the production of American missiles outside the United States<\/a> . Such a move could pave the way for expanded production of interceptor missiles needed to protect Ukraine from Russian ballistic strikes.<\/p>\n
