US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that no agreements were reached between the American and Russian sides during talks in Alaska. The Kremlin responded to his words, saying that they raise questions.<\/strong><\/p>\n

After the meeting between US President Donald Trump and Russian leader Vladimir Putin in Alaska, Russian officials repeatedly mentioned the so-called “spirit of Anchorage” and announced agreements that had allegedly been reached.<\/p>\n

Commenting on these allegations, Marco Rubio emphasized that no agreement was reached between the parties<\/strong> .<\/p>\n

“There was no deal on Alaska. There was an offer made. It was never a deal,” Marco Rubio said.<\/p>\n

In response, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the US Secretary of State’s words raise questions in Moscow. According to him, even before the meeting in Alaska, US President’s special representative Steve Witkoff allegedly conveyed to Russia Donald Trump’s proposals for resolving the war, which the Russian side took into consideration.<\/p>\n

Lavrov claims that during the negotiations in Anchorage, Vladimir Putin allegedly listed the American proposals in stages and clarified their content with Steve Witkoff, who, according to the Russian minister, confirmed the correctness of their presentation in the presence of Donald Trump and Marco Rubio.<\/p>\n

“Of course, we need to clarify this whole situation. But the fact remains: US proposals were discussed in Alaska, which were accepted by the Russian side,” said Sergey Lavrov.<\/p>\n

At the same time, Lavrov said that he disagreed with the statement about the lack of agreements, since, in his opinion, if the US proposed a settlement plan and Russia expressed its agreement, then talking about the lack of agreement is “not entirely correct.” He also drew attention to Rubio’s various statements regarding the possible role of the US in the peace process, calling them contradictory.<\/p>\n

Earlier, an aide to Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, Yuri Ushakov, said that Russia no longer expects the agreements allegedly reached during the meeting between Putin and Donald Trump in Anchorage to be fulfilled<\/a> . According to him, Moscow is betting on achieving its own goals in the war against Ukraine.<\/p>\n
