Nearly 1,000 people have died in France due to the heatwave that has been ongoing since June 24. Most of the victims are people over the age of 65, and authorities are canceling mass events due to the risk of further deaths.<\/strong><\/p>\n

According to the agency, around 1,000 deaths related to high temperatures have been recorded in France since June 24. The majority of cases occurred in regions where the highest – red – heat alert level was declared.<\/p>\n

It is noted that the heat has affected people of all ages, but 85% of the deaths are people aged 65 and older. At the same time, the department emphasized that preliminary data may not reflect the full number of victims.<\/p>\n

As of June 28, the danger level has decreased in most of France, but the abnormal heat wave continues to spread to eastern Europe.<\/p>\n

Due to extremely high temperatures in France, a number of mass events, including the Pride Festival and the Solidays music festival, have been canceled or postponed to avoid overloading the medical system, especially in the Paris region.<\/p>\n

According to the World Meteorological Organization, the heat wave that has formed in the Iberian Peninsula will spread to most of Western, Central and Southern Europe over the next two weeks.<\/p>\n

Meteorologists predict that in many countries the air temperature will exceed the climatic norm by 3\u201310 degrees, and daytime temperatures will reach over 35 degrees in some places. Over time, the epicenter of the most intense heat will shift towards the Balkan Peninsula.<\/p>\n
