Petro Poroshenko met with members of the Board of Directors of the National Endowment for Democracy (NED) of the United States. The Fifth President thanked American partners for the strong and consistent bipartisan support of Ukraine by the United States for many years.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was reported by the press service of<\/a> “European Solidarity”.<\/p>\n

“I expressed the hope that, despite the active involvement of the United States in resolving the situation in the Middle East, the Ukrainian track will remain among the unconditional priorities of the White House and Congress,” Poroshenko emphasized.<\/p>\n

They also discussed the needs for further strengthening Ukraine’s defense capabilities, primarily air defense, and strengthening sanctions against the aggressor. <\/p>\n

“He noted that Ukraine’s potential in the field of long-range strikes continues to grow. This is our so-called “drone diplomacy”, which is already an important tool not only for repelling Russian aggression, but also for forcing Russia to a complete and unconditional ceasefire and transition to real negotiations. He emphasized that any diplomacy towards the aggressor must be based on force,” the opposition leader noted. <\/p>\n

He added that during the meeting, attention was also paid to Ukraine’s internal development.<\/p>\n

“We discussed the state of democracy, the rule of law, and freedom of speech, as well as effective support for the independence of anti-corruption structures. It was emphasized that despite the conditions of martial law, democracy, multi-party parliamentarism, opposition rights, and media freedom should not be subject to unjustified restrictions,” Poroshenko concluded. <\/p>\n
