Russia has stepped up its recruitment of citizens of Peru and other Latin American countries to participate in the war against Ukraine. Recruiters use promises of high-paying jobs, social guarantees, and quick Russian citizenship.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was reported by<\/a> the Center for Countering Disinformation.<\/p>\n

According to the Center, an international journalistic investigation shows that the Kremlin is expanding the geography of covert mobilization, involving foreigners in the war.<\/p>\n

Recruiters offer potential mercenaries high-paying civilian jobs, a social package, and quick Russian passport processing. However, upon arrival in Russia, many have their documents taken away, their contact with their families restricted, and they are sent to the front without proper military training or language skills.<\/p>\n

The CPD noted that the Peruvian prosecutor’s office is already investigating 36 such cases and classifying them as human trafficking. At the same time, the Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported 247 official requests for the return of its citizens from the Russian army.<\/p>\n

The Center for Countering Disinformation emphasized that such actions indicate significant losses by the Russian army and attempts to compensate for the shortage of personnel at the expense of foreigners.<\/p>\n

According to the Central Intelligence Agency, it has already been possible to identify more than 28,000 foreigners who were recruited by Russia into the ranks of the occupation forces.<\/p>\n
