Poland does not plan to transfer MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine, as Kyiv allegedly failed to fulfill agreements on cooperation in the field of unmanned technologies.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was stated by<\/a> the Minister of National Defense of Poland, Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz, on the air of the Polsat News television channel.<\/p>\n

According to the Polish official, he offered Ukraine an agreement on the principle of “MiGs in exchange for drones.” This involves the transfer of fighters in exchange for Ukrainian experience and technology in the field of drone production.<\/p>\n

Kosiniak-Kamysh claims that the Ukrainian side initially agreed to such cooperation, but later the agreement was allegedly not fulfilled.<\/p>\n

“I proposed a partnership approach: MiGs in exchange for drones. The Ukrainians initially agreed, but did not fulfill this agreement, so there will be no MiGs for Ukraine,” he said.<\/p>\n

At the same time, the head of the Polish Ministry of Defense acknowledged that Ukraine has significant capabilities in the field of drones and could share its own developments with partners.<\/p>\n

“Ukraine has such significant capabilities in the field of drones that in response to the military equipment transferred to it, it could share know-how and partially provide access to technologies,” the minister said.<\/p>\n

Kosiniak-Kamysz also stated that he did not consider the decision of the previous Polish government to provide military aid to Ukraine after the start of a full-scale Russian invasion without additional conditions to be a mistake.<\/p>\n

“They did the right thing. I would have done the same, because Ukraine was in a much more difficult situation then,” he noted.<\/p>\n

In addition to military cooperation, the Polish minister also spoke about historical issues between the countries. He stated that Ukraine should take into account Poland’s position on assessing the figure of Stepan Bandera.<\/p>\n

“The EU cannot put on a pedestal those who destroy European cooperation. With Bandera, Ukraine will not join the EU,” said Kosiniak-Kamysh.<\/p>\n

According to him, Poland will continue to support Ukraine in the war against Russia, but expects greater reciprocity from Kyiv in matters of bilateral relations.<\/p>\n

In addition, Poland will not support Ukraine’s accession to the European Union<\/a> unless Kyiv reconsiders its approach to honoring OUN and UPA figures, in particular Stepan Bandera.<\/p>\n
