Ukraine and Sweden have signed an agreement to purchase 16 Gripen E fighters. In addition, in early 2027, the Ukrainian Air Force will receive the first batch of 16 Gripen C\/D fighters within the framework of previously reached agreements.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was announced<\/a> by President Volodymyr Zelensky.<\/p>\n

According to the head of state, along with the new aircraft, Ukraine will receive a package of necessary equipment, technical assistance, and service support.<\/p>\n

Zelensky noted that the transfer of the first 16 Gripen C\/D fighters was agreed upon earlier during negotiations with Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson.<\/p>\n

The President also reported that during a meeting with Swedish Defense Minister Poul Jonsson, the parties discussed in detail the implementation of agreements on combat aviation, as well as other areas of military cooperation.<\/p>\n

In particular, the discussion focused on the preparation of the Drone Deal and joint work on developing means to counter ballistic missiles.<\/p>\n

Zelensky thanked the government and people of Sweden for their support for Ukraine since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion and stressed that cooperation between the countries will contribute to strengthening the security of Ukraine and all of Europe.<\/p>\n

Previously, “Pryamiy” reported that a meeting of defense ministers of the Alliance countries will be held at NATO headquarters in Brussels on June 18.<\/a> The meeting will be one of the key stages of preparation for the upcoming NATO summit.<\/p>\n

The Netherlands also announced a new military aid package for Ukraine worth 500 million euros<\/a> . The funds will be used to purchase drones, air defense systems, and other weapons.<\/p>\n

In addition, Germany will finance new deliveries of American weapons to Ukraine for a total of $500 million<\/a> . Part of the funds will be used to purchase ammunition for air defense systems, in particular missiles for Patriot.<\/p>\n
