On the night of Wednesday, July 1, drones attacked a number of strategic targets in Russia and temporarily occupied Crimea. Explosions were heard in Penza, Russia, where the strikes caused a fire in the area of industrial enterprises, and in Crimea, an electrical substation that supplies military facilities to the occupiers was attacked.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is reported by Russian Telegram channels and OSINT communities.<\/p>\n

According to eyewitnesses, a series of explosions were heard in Penza after the air raid alert was announced. Russian authorities announced the operation of air defense systems.<\/p>\n

After the attack, thick smoke rose over the area of the State Bearing Plant. Later, Advisor to the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Serhiy Sternenko reported that this particular enterprise was one of the targets of the strike. <\/p>\n

At the same time, monitoring channels report that other enterprises of the city’s defense-industrial complex could have been hit, in particular the Penza Research Institute of Electromechanical Devices, the Mayak plant, and the Research Institute of Physical Measurements. <\/p>\n

According to open data, the Research Institute of Physical Measurements manufactures sensors, measuring systems, and other components used in the production of Russian aviation and missile technology, including Su-34 and Su-57 aircraft and Kh-101 and Kh-59 cruise missiles.<\/p>\n

Also, on the night of July 1, drones attacked the 330\/110 kV “Zahidno-Krymska” electrical substation in temporarily occupied Crimea.<\/p>\n

According to the Telegram channel “Crimean Wind”, a fire broke out after explosions at a substation located near the village of Kar’erne, Saksky District. The center of the fire was recorded on an open 110 kV switchgear.<\/p>\n

It is reported that the substation is one of the key elements of the occupied peninsula’s power system and provides electricity to the central and western parts of Crimea, where numerous Russian military facilities are located.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the Russian Defense Ministry announced the alleged destruction of 121 drones over several Russian regions, as well as over occupied Crimea and the waters of the Sea of Azov. There is currently no independent confirmation of this information.<\/p>\n
