The technology could help the company gain an advantage in the Pentagon’s competition to supply strike drones.

Forbes writes about this.

As the publication notes, Powerus is participating in the Drone Dominance program, within which the US Department of Defense plans to rapidly increase the production of low-cost FPV drones. In total, 48 companies are competing in the competition.

Powerus CEO Brett Velikowicz said the future of unmanned warfare lies in drone swarm control technologies. According to him, artificial intelligence will not replace operators, but will allow one soldier to effectively control several drones at once.

Forbes recalled that the technology for such control was first developed by the Ukrainian company Swarmer. It allows one operator to simultaneously control a group of reconnaissance and strike drones that can autonomously perform tasks and attack targets from different directions.

According to Velikovych, today the main limitation is not the number of drones, but the number of trained operators. That is why swarm control technologies are becoming critical for scaling unmanned forces.

The head of Powerus also emphasized that the Ukrainian system has already been tested in real combat conditions.

“This technology is battle-tested. It has proven its effectiveness in Ukraine, the largest drone warfare laboratory on Earth,” he said.

At the same time, Forbes analysts noted that the United States is still significantly behind Ukraine and Russia in terms of FPV drone production. While the American industry produces about 50,000 drones per year, Ukraine produces them on a much larger scale.

Velikovych also believes that the price of $5,000 for an FPV drone, which was set in the Drone Dominance competition, is too high. According to him, his company already supplies the US military with FPV drones at a much lower price, and government support for manufacturers will help the US catch up faster in the drone sector.

Also follow “Pryamim” on Facebook , X , Telegram , and Instagram.

U.S. drone manufacturer Powerus has partnered with Ukrainian company Swarmer, which has created software for controlling swarms of FPV drones.
