Ukraine could have used its own long-range ballistic missile to strike Russian territory for the first time. This possibility came to light after the Russian Defense Ministry announced the alleged interception of an unknown operational-tactical missile.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Journalists drew attention to the latest report from the Russian Ministry of Defense, which claims that over the course of the day, air defense forces allegedly shot down a “long-range operational-tactical missile”, seven guided bombs, and over 600 drones.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

At the same time, the Russian side did not specify which missile it was referring to or provide any details. Ukraine also did not officially confirm the use of ballistic weapons.<\/p>\n

Bloomberg noted that this statement came shortly after Ukrainian defense company Fire Point announced that the FP-9 ballistic missile was approaching the flight test stage.<\/p>\n

The company’s chief designer Denis Shtilerman previously reported that tests could start this summer or early fall. According to preliminary information, the FP-9 was designed to strike targets deep inside Russia, and its declared range is about 850 kilometers.<\/p>\n

Bloomberg emphasized that if the information about the combat use of a Ukrainian ballistic missile is confirmed, this will be an important stage in the development of Ukrainian long-range weapons of its own production. Until now, Ukraine has mainly used drones and cruise missiles to strike deep into Russia.<\/p>\n

Earlier, “Pryamiy” reported that the Fire Point company presented the FP-7 and FP-9 ballistic missiles<\/a> at the Eurosatory 2026<\/span><\/span> international arms exhibition in Paris. The Ukrainian guided aerial bomb “Equalizer” was also demonstrated for the first time at the event.<\/p>\n

In addition, Fire Point has agreed with German radar manufacturer HENSOLDT<\/span><\/span><\/a> to cooperate on the creation of a new Freya missile defense system. At the same time, the Ukrainian anti-ballistic missile for the future complex is already ready.<\/p>\n
