Ukrainian drones have disabled the Lukoil-Nizhegorodnefteorgsintez oil refinery in the Nizhny Novgorod region of the Russian Federation. The enterprise is one of the largest in Russia and one of the main suppliers of fuel to Moscow.<\/strong><\/p>\n

According to journalists, on the night of July 2, Ukrainian drones attacked a factory in the city of Kstovo. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that a fire broke out at the enterprise after the strike.<\/p>\n

According to preliminary data, the attack damaged the AVT-6 primary oil refining unit, which provided about a quarter of the plant’s production capacity. Despite statements by the Russian authorities about “non-critical” damage, the enterprise has already suspended oil refining.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Lukoil-Nizhegorodnefteorgsintez is among the ten largest oil refineries in Russia. It produces about 5 million tons of gasoline and over 5 million tons of diesel fuel annually.<\/p>\n

Journalists note that the plant in Kstovo is one of four key enterprises that supply fuel to the Moscow region.<\/p>\n

Most of them have already been hit. The Ryazan refinery stopped working after an attack in May, the Moscow refinery also stopped processing after two attacks in June and is estimated not to resume operations until the end of the year. Only the Yaroslavl refinery continues to operate, although it regularly comes under drone attacks.<\/p>\n

As the Agency notes, due to the reduction in its own production, Russia is forced to rely on fuel supplies from Belarus. At the same time, such a decision may lead to a further increase in fuel prices within the country.<\/p>\n

The recent attacks on Russian refineries have already significantly worsened the situation on the Russian domestic fuel market. Gasoline and diesel shortages are increasing, and the Russian authorities are increasingly acknowledging problems in the energy sector.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, on May 18, Ukrainian military attacked a refinery in the city of Kstovo<\/a> . After the attack, a fire broke out on the territory of the enterprise.<\/p>\n
